The very elements hear His voice, and obey

From 10/7/2013:

In my reading an article regarding Christlike mercy, in which Elder James Talmage says, “During one of His journeys, Jesus approached the city of Nain where He saw, ‘A dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow.’  (Luke 7:12)  Our Lord looked with compassion upon the sorrowing mother, now bereft of both husband and son; and, feeling in Himself the pain of her grief, He said, in a gentle tone, ‘Weep not.’  He touched the stretcher…addressing the corpes He said: ‘Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.’  And the dead heard the voice of Him who is Lord of all, and immediately sat up and spoke.’

I was moved upon during yesterday’s conference session in which the Tabernacle choir sang Master the Tempest is Raging:
The winds and the waves shall obey thy will:
Peace, be still.
Whether the wrath of the storm-tossed sea
Or demons or men or whatever it be,
No waters can swallow the ship where lies
The Master of ocean and earth and skies.
They all shall sweetly obey thy will:
Peace, be still; peace, be still.
They all shall sweetly obey thy will:
Peace, peace, be still.
Just as the statement above ‘And the dead heard the voice of Him who is Lord of all, and immediately sat up and spoke,’  in BOTH instances the Spirit bore strong witness to me not only of the truthfulness of those statements, but in particular of the eager desire of such to obey his voice.
It struck me vividly that this must become my attitude daily.  Not in concept, but in very reality that I am focused on those things He would have me do TODAY…not as an after thought, but as my focus amidst all else that mortality will require of me today.
